Subject: Renaming Lee High School

Mr. Blair:

The renaming of Lee High School bothers me on many levels, but perhaps the one that stands out the most is that it is an illegal action since Dr. Wardynski has NOT brought this before the board for approval. You represent the Lee District, yet you said nothing as you sat in the PTSA meeting at New Century High School when he made this announcement and have not made any formal statements up to this point. You made no moves to stop him from removing the name of Lee from the new building, which has been planned as Lee High School from its inception for years now. Even though you were not a board member when the original planning started, you were part of this community so I'm sure you know the history of the new building of  Lee High School.

I feel that if you are going to represent District II, it is time for you to start doing so now. The naming of a high school and especially, renaming a high school, STARTS as a board action.
The board needs to inform Dr. Wardynski of Alabama Law. Lee High School has a history of close to fifty years and as you know, there is already a magnet school placed at Lee that has been quite successful for many years. I'm sure the students and faculty of Lee will welcome the students and faculty of New Century without having to give up their beloved name of Lee High School.

Thank you for representing our district,

Pat Hall
